In the U.S., the longest holiday is Thanksgiving and this year I’ll probably stuff myself on turkey, dressing, gravy, etc. once again. I may even have that second piece of pumpkin pie to store up for the Seventh Annual Sound Steppers Turkey Trot.
Centered in Edmonds, Wash., the Sound Steppers Volkssport Club’s year-round hikes include amazing views of the Olympic and Cascade Mountains, Puget Sound, ferries, forests, lakes, and parks. But the annual Thanksgiving traditional event brings out over 250 people ready to trot those extra pounds added from Thanksgiving dinner.
This year’s 5K and 10K event has been a favorite year-round event for 20 years. It is scheduled for Saturday, November 24, 8 a.m. to noon start time at Edmonds United Methodist Church, 838 Caspers Street, Edmonds. Food, cash and checks will be collected for the Edmonds Food Bank.
All are invited to join the Seventh Annual Turkey Trot, the Sound Steppers, or request information about Volkssporting. Please visit our website www.soundsteppers.org or the American Volkssporting Association website at www.ava.org.
