Health & Safety Fair raffle winner Emma Lund.

Lake Stevens Fire and Lake Stevens Police congratulated Health and Safety Fair raffle winner Emma Lund, Friday, Nov. 16 at Mt. Pilchuck Elementary. Lund is a student in Ms. Colvin’s 4th/5th grade class and her prize was a classroom pizza party with Lake Stevens Fire and Lake Stevens Police.

Public Educator Jennye Cooper facilitated an activity for the class in which they simulated a practice call to 911. The kids were divided into groups and each group received a type of pretend emergency situation where they had to answer the questions of who, what, when, and where. Then they chose two students from each group to role play for the rest of the class. One student played the role of “911 operator” and the other student played the role of “911 caller.”

Public Educator Jennye Cooper commented, “Ms. Colvin’s class demonstrated through their group work and their presentations that if ever faced with an emergency, they will know how to place an informed call to 911.”

Lund qualified for this raffle by checking in at every booth at the Health and Safety Fair last June. Both LSF and LSPD thank Lund and her family for participating in the 2012 Health and Safety Fair.
