Celebratory fireworks were going off in a neighborhood on the 6400 block of 120th Dr. NE in Lake Stevens on New Year’s Eve but just after midnight on Tuesday, January 1, Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called out to the neighborhood when someone allegedly was shooting their gun as well.

The 54-year-old female suspect began shooting her .45-caliber handgun at a group of men after she asked them to stop the fireworks and was laughed at, a police report states.

The female suspect was accused of shooting her neighbor, a 24-year-old male, in the leg,” Snohomish County Sheriff’s Department stated.

The suspect had confronted the victim and his friends several times during the evening over fireworks being discharged, including some that she believed were being aimed at her property.

The victim was transported to a nearby hospital with a gunshot wound to the thigh.  His injuries were believed to be non-life threatening at the time.

The suspect was booked into Snohomish County Jail where she was being held in lieu of her $20,000 bail. So far no charges have been filed.
