Two Lake Stevens Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) members, Larisa Kreft and Amanda Kristofferson, helped to fight childhood obesity by educating elementary students about the MyPlate food guidelines and the importance of exercising daily.
Their lesson plan included a PowerPoint emphasizing the five main food groups and allowing the students to interactively identify appropriate foods for each category.
The lesson concluded with a homework assignment to help parents understand the guidelines, a nutritional snack, and a few rounds of short exercises.
