Haley Downey, 16, of Lake Stevens, will be among fifty-three of the country’s most talented, bright and beautiful young women, ages 13 to 17, in Orlando, Flor. to compete in the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen (MAOTeen) competition, the “little sister” to Miss America.
The competition will take place August 13-17, 2013 at the Linda Chapin Theater inside the Orange County Convention Center.
Promoting scholastic achievement, creative accomplishment, healthy living and community involvement for America’s teens, the MAOTeen contestants will be judged on personal interview, talent, evening wear, lifestyle & fitness in active wear, and on-stage question.
Downey, a junior at Lake Stevens High School, is promoting wildlife conservation as a platform issue throughout her year of service as Miss Washington’s Outstanding Teen. Downey will be performing a harp solo for the talent portion of the MAOTeen competition.
The contestants will be in Orlando from Saturday, August 10 through Saturday, August 17 for rehearsals and activities surrounding the pageant.
