On August 7, the Lake Stevens Journal ran a story regarding Jay Londo and his son Chris who were preparing to hike Mt. Pilchuck. The pair completed their goal on Tuesday, August 6.
“We were first to the mountain. We started at 6:30 and walked for nearly four hours we made it to in sight of the top, and seeing the building,” Jay said. “The grueling hike was hard for Chris, and the heat and the bugs got to him.”
However, the pair continued their trek and made it to the top. “He was so excited and tried so hard. He led the whole way up and then back down,” Jay said. “Then when we got back to the car, he looked at me and said, ‘We did it!’ He was so happy! I was so proud.”
Chris also won a gold medal at the Special Olympics Regional Golf Tournament and went to state on August 17.
