Schools into lock down after attempted robbery at Rite-Aid

Hillcrest Elementary, Skyline Elementary and Lake Stevens Middle School went into lock down last Thursday, May 31 after a man walked into the Lake Stevens Rite-Aid on 91st St. NE claiming he had a gun and asking for drugs.

L.S. Friends of Library needs volunteers

The Friends of the Lake Stevens Library are looking for volunteers to help at their annual Book Sale at Aquafest July 27-29. This is the FOL primary fundraiser of the year and all funds will go to purchase “extras” for the library such as programs for children, furniture, presentations, and other items and activities which Sno-Isle Libraries can’t budget.

One hundred ninety-six Washington high school seniors have been honored as Washington Scholars or Washington Scholar Alternates in recognition of their academic achievements, leadership, and community service, the Higher Education Coordinating Board (HECB) and the Association of Washington School Principals (AWSP) including Megan E. Pryor of Lake Stevens High School.

Seniors to hold estate sale, pancake breakfast

Lake Stevens Senior Center will have an Estate Sale on Friday and Saturday June 8 and 9, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Many items including tools, treasures and collectibles will be for sale.

Albertsons holding re-grand opening event

Rotary Club asking for aid to help homeless students

The date for matching funds in the Rotary Club of Lake Stevens and Rotary District 5050 for homeless Lake Stevens School District kids has been extended through June 15.

Lake Stevens Police were called to a bank robbery at Union Bank, 909 Frontage Rd. in Frontier Village on Wednesday, May 23. The call came in around 11 a.m.

L.S.City Council to remove curfew law

In 1997 Lake Stevens adopted a curfew ordinance which stated that no one under the age of 18 was allowed on public streets, highways, alleys, parks, vacant lots or any other public place within the city between the hours of 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. during the week and after midnight on weekends, however, this ordinance has since been removed.

Rotary Club asking for aid to help homeless students and families

Mini roundabouts to start construction next week on North Davies Rd.

County opens Deer Creek gate access on Mtn. Loop Hwy

Snohomish County Public Works’ crews have reopened the Deer Creek gate on Mountain Loop Highway, providing access to the Big Four Ice Caves, Barlow Pass and other recreational opportunities.

Lake Stevens CPA has license suspended

The State of Washington Board of Accountancy has recently suspended the CPA credentials for Steven M. Carlson, an accountant who practices in Marysville and resides in Lake Stevens effective April 26, 2012.
