The girls U15 Lake Volleyball Club poses on the bleachers. Lake Volleyball Club U15 competed in their first of four Power League Tournaments on Jan. 23 and Jan. 24 in Tacoma and Kent.
The team, coached by Head Coach Carly Taylor and Assistant Coach Jessica Leptich, played tough all weekend and ended up placing 21st out of 48 teams.
There are three more Power League Tournaments scheduled throughout the season where they will have chances to move up in rankings.
Some of the highlights of the two–day tournament were Christiana James with 25 kills and 11 blocks, Sarah Gluck with 15 kills, Ashley Williams with 14 kills and 11 aces and Sara Perry with 14 aces. Kaitlyn Noonchester had some amazing tips that managed to find holes in the opponents defense numerous times.
Lake also played in the Northshore Juniors Tournament in Everett on Feb. 7.
They competed against U16 teams and placed third in the gold division. Again, these girls played tough all day long. Danielle Chalfant had 20 kills, A. Williams had 16 kills, Gluck 19 kills, Megan McCrea 15 kills and Perry with 18 aces.
Noonchester had 44 assists and Haily Bramer and Hannah Johnson had some amazing digs to keep the ball in play.
Lake VBC U15’s next tournament was a Power League tournament on Feb. 21.
