Swimmers break school records, qualify for State

Thirteen teams from Wesco 4A competed for the district title Feb. 11-13.
Lake sent twelve swimmers, AJ Carr, Carl Funnell, Tom Hale, Scott Jerde, Kyle Libra, Chris Perry, Jerry Pierce, Christian Reid, Grant Reimers, John Vickery, Nolan Ward, Blake Werner, and one diver, Zach Schmuck, to the preliminaries with seven of those swimmers qualifying for finals on Saturday.

The 200 medley relay (Werner, Hale, Jerde, Libra) lead off the meet with a state qualifying time of 1:43.46 inching closer to the high school record which was eventually broken with their finals swim time of 1:41.44 netting them a second place finish and a fifth place state ranking.
Senior Christian Reid turned in a personal best time in the 200 freestyle prelims qualifying him for finals where he finished in 13th place with a time of 1:58.47.


Seniors Carl Funnell and John Vickery both swam their personal best times during the prelims falling just short of finals qualification.
