Number one ranked Lake Stevens Wrestling Team met the third ranked Chiefs of Moses Lake at Cavelero Mid High last Friday evening.
Lake’s Jesse Peterson started a Viking run by recording a fall at 103 lbs. to give the Vikings the early 6-0 lead.
Following a forfeit win at 112 lbs., sophomore Eric Soler earned a major decision over Beau Gleed of Moses Lake.
Lake won the first six matches to go up 27-0. Moses Lake came back by scoring falls in the next three bouts to close the gap 27-18.
Lake’s Jack Reeves with a 40 fall at 160 lbs. and Andrew King’s 4-2 victory at 171 lbs. put the Vikings ahead 36-27 with three bouts remaining.
Moses Lake won those final bouts but it wasn’t enough to win the dual.
Final score: Lake Stevens 36 Moses Lake 34.
Lake Stevens’ final home dual of the year is Thursday, Jan. 20 vs. Monroe at Lake Stevens High School at 5:45 p.m.
