Lake Stevens’ wrestlers finished Wesco North competition this past week defeating Monroe 74-6 on Tuesday and Marysville 56-24 on Thursday to wrap up their 4th straight Wesco North Championship. The Vikings have won Wesco North 22 out of the last 23 years. The team finished the regular season 5-0 in league and 13-2 overall.
The road to the wrestling state championships begins Fri. February 3 at Monroe HS where the District Championships will be held beginning at 5 p.m. and concluding on Sat. February 4. The Vikings will be going after their 13th straight District title.
Six Lake Stevens’ wrestlers are ranked in the top three in the state in their weight class in the 4a classification: 113lbs. senior Dakota Reynolds, 120lbs junior Jesse Peterson, 126lbs. junior Eric Soler, 138lbs. senior Kinsey Johnson, 220lbs. junior Shaquille Reed and 285lbs. junior Brandon Johnson. Wrestlers who finish in the top six in their weight class at districts advance to the regional championships, which will be held at Cavelero Mid-high on Sat. February 13.
