Viking Wrestlers take second in Regionals

The Lake Stevens Wrestling team took second place in the 2012 4A Region 1 wrestling champions held Saturday, February 11.
The Region 1 Championships included 16 teams, 11 from Wesco and five from the Greater St. Helens League of Southwest Washington.
Four Viking wrestlers won individual championships: Eric Soler (126 lbs.), Kinsey Johnson (138 lbs.), Ryan Olliges (182 lbs.) and Brandon Johnson (285 lbs.).
Coming in fourth place for the Vikings were Alex Rodorigo (106 lbs.), Austin Gershmel (145 lbs.) and Shaquille Reed (220 lbs.).
The top four finishers in each of the 14 weight divisions advance to the Wrestling State Championships held in the Tacoma Dome this weekend.
The Vikings advance seven wrestlers to State.
