LSHS baseball leads All Area first and second teams

The Lake Stevens Vikings baseball team dominated the All-Wesco player voting along with having the Everett Herald’s player of the year and four other teammates included on the All Area first and second teams.

Six Viking baseball players garnered seven spots on the All-Wesco North first team baseball squad, led by Anthony Blackie who was selected as pitcher and also as a utility player. Joining Blackie on first team were; Catcher Logan Merrill, 3B Wade Curtis, SS Dylan LaVelle, OF Jake Nelson, OF Christian Gasca.

Two Vikings were named to All Wesco North second team, 2B Peter Ruiz and OF Christian Shouman, who led the league in home runs with five.

Three Viking pitchers received honorable mentions: Kevin Lanto, Brandon Kelliher and Alex Koeplin, who had to lead the league in ERA at 1.33.Blackie was named All-Area Player of the year after hitting .455 with 23 RBI and four doubles along with a 4-0 pitching record and 1.74 ERA in the regular season.

Nelson also was named first team All-Area as an Outfielder after hitting .406 with 30 RBI, five doubles and three home runs.
LaVelle (.409  10 RBI  5 doubles 1 HR), Merrill (.403  20 RBI 10 doubles) and Curtis (.413  16 RBI  8 doubles 1 triple) were each named second team All-Area.
