Students from North Lake Middle School, Lake Stevens Middle School, and Cavelero Mid High learning leadership skills.
Local students from North Lake Middle School, Lake Stevens Middle School, and Cavelero Mid High spent four action packed days honing their leadership skills and planning for the upcoming school year.
Forty-six students represented the Lake Stevens School District at Cispus Learning Center in Randle, Washington as delegates at this AWSP (Association of Washington School Principals) middle level leadership camp.
Meeting with others from throughout the state, students exchanged ideas regarding school climate, spirit and pride activities, sensitivity to others, and serving their community.
Presentation skills, leadership characteristics, and networking were all key components of the camp experience. In addition to training students at the camp, AWSP offered an adviser training session.
Three teachers and one administrator from our district took part in this leadership building opportunity. For kids and adults, this was an inspiring experience.
The participants in this camp have gained an understanding of what it will take for them to raise school spirit and demonstrate pride among their peers.
They are also prepared to stand up for what is right, even when it may not be the popular view. Watch for middle level students making a positive impact on their schools and in our Lake Stevens community.
