The Washington State Freestyle State Wrestling Championships were held the weekend of May 8 and 9 in Centralia.
Wrestlers ages five through 14 competed in the event. Lake Stevens sent their own youth team, the Pin City Wrestling Club, coached by Burke Barnes, son of Lake Stevens High School’s head coach Brent Barnes.
The Club had two State Champions, Michael Soler at 95 pounds and Trysten Perales at 90 pounds. Soler was also this year’s Washington Greco Roman and Folkstyle State Champion. By winning all three, Soler was named a Washington State Triple Crown Champion. Other finishers include: third place Theron Tate and Julian Fryberg; second place Cody Wright; fourth place Hayden Primozich; fifth place Wyatt Butler; seventh place Jaylen Fryberg.
