Robert and Rodger Anderson receive Hall of Fame plaques from each other at last Friday’s football game. Both were inducted into the Viking Hall of Fame.
When Viking game announcer Rodger Anderson presented his brother Robert with a Viking Hall of Fame plaque at halftime of last Friday’s football game he didn’t know that he was in store for the same award himself.
After Rodger gave his brother his plaque he was surprised to be handed one of his own, and the two hugged.
Robert (Bob), a 1971 Viking grad who played multiple sports, has distinguished himself as an award-winning scientist in oceanography and chemistry. A University of Washington grad with a doctorate from MIT, Robert teaches at Columbia University in New York and has lectured in various countries around the world.
Rodger, a 1977 Lake Stevens grad, was an all-league performer for the Vikings in football, basketball and baseball and as Viking baseball coach since 1989 has had 13 teams qualify for State. He has served as public address announcer at Viking football games for several years. He’s also one of Lake Stevens’ most popular teachers.
Both brothers are at the peak of their outstanding careers and show no signs of slowing down.
