ARLINGTON - The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) Aviation continues the air search for missing pilot, Gordon Last, and his Taylorcraft two-seat airplane. Last has been missing since Saturday, Oct. 10.
Last’s plane departed from Harvey Field Airport in Snohomish on Saturday afternoon. He was expected to return to Harvey Field later that afternoon. His girlfriend reported him as missing when he failed to return.
A ground search was initiated Saturday evening. Then searchers scoured the Snohomish County area by air on Sunday, flying at total of 45 hours using eight search planes and a Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office helicopter.
According to reports, the plane had no emergency locator beacon or transponder on board, and no flight plan was filed.
Today, searchers from WSDOT Aviation, the Civil Air Patrol and Washington Air Search and Rescue are working from a search base at the Arlington Municipal Airport. Favorable weather has enabled eight search planes to fly during the day over the Snohomish County area to look for the missing plane.
