98205 Zip Codes change July 1 for southwest annexation residents
As of July 1, residents living in the newly annexed southwest area of Lake Stevens will now have the 98258 zip code instead of the 98205 zip code. The United States Postal Service (USPS) will be doing away with the 98205 zip code.
However, there will be a small number of people not annexed into the city that will have the 98205 zip code changed also.
Their zip code will be changed to 98201. These residents live on Smith and Ebey Island and under the viaduct area.
With mail in our area now being delivered out of the Everett and Lake Stevens Distribution Centers, USPS felt it was a good time to make that change, eliminating what was going to become a very small carrier route.
USPS has sent out two letters notifying residents who will be affected by the change that this will begin on July 1. USPS has advised that mail will be automatically forwarded for 12 months.
People whose addresses are changing to Lake Stevens, 98258 but whose address was not included in the southwest annexation have of course not been annexed into the City but remain unincorporated Snohomish County residents.
