Police Chief, Principal support U-Turn scholarship

June 28, 2010

Keith and Corey Perry of Jay’s Market, Karissa Grow, 2010 Recipient and LSHS Principal Ken Collins.

Lake Stevens Police Chief Randy Celori and Lake Stevens High School Principal Ken Collins are both turning 50 this year.

To celebrate their birthdays, the two have helped start a scholarship program to help students who have worked hard to turn their lives around.

The U-Turn scholarship was created through the collective efforts of Celori, Collins and Community extraordinaires Jan and Lorrie Larsen. It is the vision of combined community action and focus on philanthropy that make this award possible and perpetual.

Also, we wish to thank Keith and Corey Perry of Jay’s Market, the first contributor to this award.

The U-Turn Award and Scholarship is designated to honor a student who has overcome, in some cases, seemingly insurmountable odds to put themselves in a position to graduate from Lake Stevens High School and begin post secondary education.

The award recognizes a student who either on their own or with the help of friends and family has turned around their lives, created goals, and put themselves on the pathway to being a success.

This scholarship will be managed through the Lake Stevens Education Foundation.

A fundraising event is being held this summer to insure this scholarship is available next year and in future years.

For information about the fundraising efforts of this award or how to make a donation, please contact Kelli Lynn at or 425-212-1919 or visit the Lake Stevens Education Foundation web page
