United Way to recruit 480 Days of Caring volunteers by weeks’ end
480 volunteers are still needed to fill this year’s slate of Days of Caring projects, taking place at sites around Snohomish County Friday, Sept. 24, and Saturday, Sept. 25. Team and individuals interested in participating can sign up at uwsc.org through Friday, Sept. 17.
Slots at many of this year’s 69 hands-on projects are available both Friday and Saturday. Benefitting local nonprofit agencies, jobs include painting, grounds clean-up, roof repair and reading to elementary students.
Last year, 1,062 Days of Caring volunteers spent time at 56 project sites, giving more than 6,300 hours valued at $129,000. In 2010, 800 volunteers have registered to-date.
