In each competition, three local High School teams compete by answering questions from 13 categories. Points are accumulated throughout the season to determine which teams advance to the play offs. Lake began competition Jan. 6 with third-place finish against Monroe and Lakewood high schools.
The team competed again at 9:45 a.m. Feb. 2 at the Performing Arts Center and 9:40 a.m. Feb. 8 at Marysville-Pilchuck High School. Semi-finals will be held Feb. 26 and finals on March 3.
Lake Stevens’ Hi-Q team includes Kamran Ali, Andrei Arevalo, Austin Carlton, Charlie Hannigan, Sam Mardock, Sean Perry, Sydney Peterson and Chad Watson. The team’s advisor is Chris Neuman.
Hi-Q is in its 35th year of academic competition in the region. Hi-Q is sponsored by EvCC, Fred Meyer stores, MountainCrest Credit Union, the EvCC Foundation, University Center of North Puget Sound and the participating high schools from Snohomish and Island Counties.
