Hwy. 2 Trestle to be closed for repairs
After finding signs of corrosion on the girders of the Highway 2 trestle, WSDOT will be repairing over 800 feet of steel and concrete girders on the westbound lanes of Highway 2.
The $4.1 million project is scheduled to begin sometime in May and last for up to 65 days shutting down the westbound lanes between 43rd Ave. SE and 50th Ave. SE from 7:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. While the trestle is in no danger of collapsing the work does need to be completed to extend the life of the bridge. Signs will be erected to let drivers know when the repairs and closures will take place. The exact dates of the closures should be announced sometime this week.
