Granite Falls Library holds special celebration

March 29, 2011

Two-year-old Sienna and 11-year-old David Pugh show off their hats.

In celebration of Dr. Suess’s birthday, the Granite Falls Library held a Cat In The Hat party on Saturday, Feb. 26 where over 30 children each received their very own handmade hat to take home.

One special mom, Paula Pugh, made all of the hats for the children.

The library had over 55 attendees at the annual Cat In The Hat party.

Kids did trivia, Librarian Linnea Epstein and Anna Beach, 10, (daughter of Wendy and Larry Beach of Granite Falls) read a “Reader’s Theatre” drama from “Green Eggs and Ham” together.

David Pugh, 11, walked around and read portions of “500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins,” a Dr. Seuss book all about the different kind of hats there are which paired nicely with the event’s 40 hats for 40 kids.

The kids made a two-sided “tag board door knob hanger” for their bedroom door and enjoyed cake provided by The Friends of The Granite Falls Library.

The Cat In The Hat event was supported by The Friends of The Granite Falls Library.
