L.S. American Legion honored with awards

The American Legion Post 181 Auxiliary Unit, which is their women’s organization side of the membership, was awarded the Unit of the Year award for District 2.

In addition, American Legion Post 181 was awarded the Post of the Year award for District 2 .

District 2 covers the area from Snohomish County to the Canadian border and also includes one post in Vancouver, B.C.

The 30 Posts of District 2 have nearly 6,500 members of the Department’s 25,000 total. Post 181 is the biggest District in the Department.

Post 181 holds flag lowering ceremonies for military who have passed away, collects tattered or unusable flags and takes care of the War Memorial in downtown Lake Stevens.

These are just a few of the many things Post 181 does for veterans and the community.
