First Responders take seatbelt pledge
Chief Lingenfelter accepts award from Mukilteo’s Assistant Chief McMahan.
Congratulations to Lake Stevens Fire for their 100 percent participation in the Everyone Goes Home Seatbelt Pledge program. This program was created in 2006 in response to the tragic death of a firefighter who fell from his truck on his way to an emergency call. The Seatbelt Pledge is a great way to remind first responders how important it is to “buckle up”.
The Seatbelt Pledge reads as follows: “I agree to sign the International First Responder Seatbelt Pledge. As a participant in this pledge, I will make this first step toward safety by wearing my seatbelt, following all seatbelt laws, and department policies. I make this pledge willingly; to honor my family, my department, my fellow responders, my community, and myself. Wearing my seatbelt is the right thing to do—It is my life on the line! I Pledge to Wear My Seatbelt.”
Mukilteo Assistant Fire Chief Brian McMahan presented Lake Stevens Fire with their official First Responders Seatbelt Pledge Certificate at a recent Commissioner Meeting.
Chief Dave Lingenfelter commented, “We are the ninth department in the state of Washington to achieve this honor. I am proud of our members for their commitment to safety as they continue to serve our community.”
