Student named Commended Student in National Merit Scholarship Program
Granite Falls High School senior Tia Cervarich has been named as a Commended Student in the 2012 National Merit Scholarship Program.
Cervarich placed in the top five percent of more that 1.5 million students in the entire country based on scores from the Preliminary SAT test.
Cervarich maintains a 4.0 GPA with a full college prep class load including Advanced Placement Chemistry and Literature and College in the High School American Government. She plans to major in chemistry in college.
High School principal Michele Wadeikis stated, “Tia is a great example to represent our school. She is an outstanding academic student and highly involved in all aspects of the High School life including volunteer work and athletics. We are very proud of Tia and the leadership she provides to our school.”
Cervarich is also a four year member of the soccer and track teams, President of the Honor Society Club, member of the Spanish Club, LINK Crew, and leadership class, and is one of this year’s coordinators for the annual High School food drive.
