Lake Stevens High School students holding annual food drive

November 29, 2011

Lake Stevens High School is having it’s annul Adopt-A-Family Food Drive from Tuesday, Nov. 29 to Thursday, December 15.

Last year, the Adopt-A-Family Food Drive raised over 38,000 food items for the Lake Stevens Food Bank and the support of the Lake Stevens Community was nothing short of remarkable.

This year Lake Stevens High School is partnering with the Lake Stevens Food Bank and Lil’ Hungry Hearts for the food drive. Lil’ Hungry Hearts provides many elementary school children in need with food supplies to support themselves.

The students’ goal at LSHS is to raise over 50,000 food items, which will provide many people in need in the Lake Stevens community with an enjoyable holiday season.

If you would like to participate in the food drive there will be many opportunities. LSHS students will be standing outside local stores - Albertson’s, Safeway, Haggens, and Jay’s Market on certain dates and times to collect food donations.

In addition, the students at the High School will have two “Blitz Nights” where they will go to neighborhoods in Lake Stevens community to collect items. The two “Blitz Nights” will on Monday, December 5 from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Monday, December 12 from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

If you would like to donate food directly to the Lake Stevens High School you may stop by during school hours (7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.) to drop off any food items.

All of the items donated will go directly to the Lake Stevens Food Bank and help people in need in Lake Stevens.

If you have any questions about the food drive or would like further information to donate you may contact Joe Cronin, Leadership Teacher at LSHS, at email: joe_cronin@lkstevens.wednet.edu or phone 425-335 - 1515 ext: 2234.
