Every year Lake Stevens Firefighters join the team at Ixtapa Mexican Restaurant in an effort to ensure that local kids get a gift to open on Christmas.
On Saturday, Dec. 3 starting at 5 p.m. Lake Stevens firefighters will be back with aprons on serving up hot, fresh Mexican fare at Ixtapa in Lake Stevens.
All monies raised go directly to the Lake Stevens Family Center to purchase Christmas gifts for kids in need.
Firefighter Pat Cook, who heads up this event each year enjoys getting to know community members better during this fun-filled evening.
“It’s one way that we firefighters can give back to our community. We work in the community and are employed by the taxpayers,” he said.
Last year they were able to collect enough funds to help over 35 kids right here in Lake Stevens. With the need even higher this year, they hope to get an even bigger turnout.
“If you can give those kids just one more day of hope I think that is so important,” Cook said. “Christmas is about children. It’s about young kids enjoying the day.”
Fire trucks and aid cars will be on hand if you want to jump in and take a look as well.
If you are unable to stop by Ixtapa but would like to donate you can drop money by any Lake Stevens Fire Station or at Ixtapa on 91st Street NE or contact the Family Center directly at 425-397-7433.
“It would be great if no child in Lake Stevens goes without a gift on Christmas morning,” Cook said.
