Military kids enjoy a touch of Christmas

December 13, 2011

Playing games, making crafts and a visit from Santa made the day extra special for local military kids.

Thanks to American Legion Post 181’s Women’s Auxiliary and their friends, hundreds of kids whose parents serve on the USS Lincoln were fed and entertained at Lake Stevens High School on Sunday, Dec. 11.

At this, the second annual Military Families Christmas Party, kids and parents also got to sign a banner that will be sent to the troops aboard the Lincoln.

“I think that our military families need to be linked to our community and having over 100 community volunteers here today, this party helps them do that,” Women’s Auxiliary President Karen Morea said.

Local business owners and service groups helped sponsor this event including Lake Stevens Lions, Lake Stevens Kiwanis, Lake Stevens Rotary, LSHS Key Club, Tracy DeLorm Family Dental, Barb Riffle - PartyLite Candles, Lake Stevens Family Center, Udderly Sweet Frozen Yogurt and Cupcakes and Becky Daily, Task Properties and Impact Property Management.
