Lake Stevens seniors enjoy a Christmas to remember
Sixty people, including Santa himself arrived at the Lake Stevens Senior Center on Christmas Day, for fantastic food, gift cards, gifts galore and lots of fun and fellowship. This was the sixth annual event and each one gets bigger and better.
Thanks to the generous contributions from anonymous donors, individuals, Albertsons, Big O Tires, Bonney-Watson, Foster Press, Jack in the Box, Les Schwab Tire Center, Safeway, Staples, Tom Thumb Grocery and Wild Birds Unlimited and from Lake Stevens’ own Kiwanis, Lions and Rotary clubs.
Seniors were able to provide lots of gift cards and a huge bag of gifts for each person.
Contributions from individuals came not only from Lake Stevens but from as far away as California.
Wayne Franz was chairperson for this event and 16 other individuals planned for over six weeks to make this event possible.
These seniors were: Jo Brydon, Ann Buckner, Wilma Daniels, Ed and Mary Heywood, Danny Houghton, Nola Johnson, Carol Murphy, Alice O’Donnell, Jack and Peggy Pease, Ann and Ed Spence, Bill and Donna Stipek and Jan Tilly.
Christmas carols were sung, long handmade scarves were worn (donation of 80 were provided) and six large afghans were raffled off.
