GFHS Eco-team instructor awarded grant from BECU to spread message
Granite Falls High School Eco-team instructor Michael Werner was awarded a $2,450 grant from Boeing Employees Credit Union on February 24.
The grant will be used to involve students at Granite Falls Middle School and Monte Cristo Elementary in the building and testing of cars. The program will last somewhere between four and six weeks and will be lead by the Granite Falls High School Eco-team students.
This program will help to teach math and science to younger kids in a different and interesting way.
The money will be used to buy equipment for the program including materials to build cars and a wind tunnel machine.
"I think this is a great opportunity to start the curiosity early in kids," Werner said. "There is something for everyone, whether you like to build, design or plan things."
