Haitian Pastor to visit Lake Stevens area church

April 24, 2012

Pastor Daniel Paul, from Ouanaminthe Haiti, will be visiting Lamb of God Lutheran Church in Lake Stevens on Sunday, April 29.

He will be making a presentation about his community outreach program that aids the poverty stricken area. At this time, his orphanage is home to over 45 girls. With the support of many people in this region, he hopes to open a boys’ orphanage this summer.

In addition to running the orphanage, Pastor Paul began a school that provides education and a hot meal to over 150 children every day. A third part of his ministry includes leading a local congregation of the Evangelical Church of Haiti. Pastor Daniel Paul’s wife, Clynie, works beside him in this mission. Another important associate in the ministry is Emily Bartelheimer. Bartelheimer, a graduate of Snohomish High School and Gonzaga University’s nursing program, lives full time at the orphanage. She provides much needed medical help to the community as well as helping care for the girls at the orphanage. Bartelheimer will also be at the event to share her experiences and answer questions.

Lamb of God Lutheran Church initially began to support Pastor Paul in 2003. In 2005, Faith Lutheran Church in La Grande, Oregon joined in the partnership and the organization Nord Est Haiti Lutheran Mission (NEHLM) was formed. Together the two small congregations have assisted Pastor Paul in getting sponsors for the children, sending mission teams, and providing other types of support.

As many people know, Haiti is one of the poorest countries in the world and was devastated by an earthquake in 2010. Although Ouanaminthe was not damaged by the earthquake, the entire country was affected in some way. Many people worked through NEHLM to help those in need.

If you would like to hear more about this mission, you are invited to come hear him speak, beginning at 3 p.m.

Lamb of God Lutheran Church meets at the Zion Lutheran School gym at 3923 103rd Ave. SE in Lake Stevens.
