Willy Wonka to be performed at Cavelero Mid High

April 24, 2012

The Cavelero Mid High cast of Willy Wonka.

The Drama Club at Cavelero Mid High School proudly presents, “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory”. This musical, the first one put on by the school, is full of new songs and old favorites. Join Charlie and the other children as they enter into Wonka’s world of “pure imagination”. Oompa-Loompas, giant lollipops, and a chocolate river are only a few of the wonders you will experience in the magical world of Wonka.

The cast and crew members are very excited and have many positive things to say about the production and their experiences.

“The play helps me build confidence with public speaking,” Kalliyan Lay said.

“It’s very lively and interactive with the audience,” added Taylor Villalon.

Both Dyllan Marshall and Jacob Gloss said that it’s been great fun and a great opportunity to meet new and amazing people.

“Everyone works together to make it better and better,” said Emily Foster.

This year’s production is a fun family show. The musical is quite different from last year’s production because of the number of set changes and special effects, choreography, and singing. The students have risen to the challenge.

Faculty advisor David Zerbst says, “I am really inspired.” A former Cavelero Drama Club member, and LSHS sophomore, Steven Ortiz, is bringing an amazing amount of creative energy and commitment to the production as Student Director.

“Coming back to Cavelero to direct this year’s musical is the most exciting thing I’ve ever done. The kids are great, and the parents have been so vital to our success thus far,” Ortiz said.
