The Granite Falls High School Shop Girls took first place in safety at the Shell Eco-Marathon Americas Competition in Houston. At the same competition the GFHS UrbanAuto team took second in their category with 231 mpg.
Granite Falls High School demonstrated safety as a top priority in their vehicle design, construction and onsite behavior at the event and received a prize of $1,000.
The competition challenged students to design and build vehicles that travel the farthest distance using the least amount of energy.
Both of the teams broke their previous records and exceeded the goals they had set for themselves for this year.
