New local website for genealogy
The LDS family History Center in Lake Stevens now has their own website to help those searching for their ancestors. The website address is lakestevensFHC.wordpress.com.
On the website you will find detailed information about all upcoming classes and hours. In addition you will find information on upcoming national and local genealogy conferences, a list of 50 popular genealogy websites, helpful videos to watch, list of TV genealogy shows, even a few genealogy jokes.
Upcoming classes will deal with how to “Guestimate the age of old photos”, “Using Dropbox” (free internet storage, and backup to your priceless files and photos).
• Classes on “Organizing your papers in folders,” and also “Organizing your computerized information,” (putting your data on a computer program and backup to a thumb drive).
• Another class on using PAF (Personal Ancestral File) free software program to organize your files, and all its functions, even creating a book from your information.
The LDS Family History Center is located at 10120 Chapel Hill Road (a few blocks east of Target) in the west side of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They are open every Tues. and Thur. from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Tues. night from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. (Plus other days when classes are held).
