Children’s writer announces publication of latest book, “Weaving Magic”
“Weaving Magic” is a romance for teens and is set in the Skagit Valley. He loves magic. She loves romance. But the biggest illusion is the one Shantel and Christopher perform together.
Sixteen-year-old Christopher fights to stay sober while fifteen-year-old Shantel struggles in the aftermath of her mother’s death and seeks refuge in a fantasy world. But the unacknowledged roots of their problems refuse to stay buried and soon, the two are headed toward a deadly magic trick. Can Shantel and Christopher move beyond magical illusions to find love? There is a free book discussion guide available at Hardwick’s website.
“Weaving Magic” is published by MuseItUp Publishing, and available for purchase at all your favorite on-line bookstores. The story is inspired by the teens at Denney Juvenile Justice Center where Hardwick runs a writing workshop. As a part of the Denney Writing workshop, teens read and discuss contemporary novels for teens and write poetry.
Some of the teen’s poetry can be seen at their blog: http://www.denneypoetry.com. Hardwick was one of the teaching artists in the Reclaiming Futures Art and Writing Program at Denney Drug Court this past fall.
Hardwick is a frequent school and library presenter. She offers a Creative Writing Scholarship at Lake Stevens High School. The deadline for this years’ scholarship has passed, but please check with Ms. LaFortune in the Career Center for an application in the Fall.
