Lake Stevens local wins 3000 meter steeplechase

Lauren Moran, from Lake Stevens and a 2008 graduate of Archbishop Murphy High School won the NAIA national championship in the women’s 3000 meter steeplechase this year.
Moran is a senior at Concordia University in Portland, Oregon.
In her college career at Concordia, she achieved seven All-American honors, won the Cascade Collegiate Conference steeplechase championship four years in a row and also holds the Cascade Collegiate Conference record in that event.
Moran’s coach, Randy Dalzell led the Concordia women’s team to a second place finish at nationals this season to follow up their women’s team NAIA National Championship in 2011.
