Awards and Honors

The following students were recognized by the Lake Stevens School Board as outstanding secondary students at the May 9 School Board meeting.

Lake Stevens High School April students of the month: Sean Davidson – 10th grade, Emily Schollenberger – 10th grade, Colby Henderson – 11th grade, Talia Bailey – 11th grade, Terry Brady – 12th grade, Kelsey Reimers – 12th grade.

Cavelero Mid High School April students of the month: Naomi Bodach – 8th grade, Christofer Forbes – 8th grade, Laeticia Tsa – 9th grade, Nick Peda – 9th grade.

Lake Stevens Middle School April students of the month: Scout Slechta – 6th grade, Peter Kravchuk – 6th grade, Abbigayle Storwick – 7th grade, Ryan Sander – 7th grade.

North Lake Middle School April students of the month: Anna Johanson – 6th grade, Cole Thompson – 6th grade, Phoebe Demeerleer – 7th grade, Austen Pyle – 7th grade.

Nominated and selected by their peers, the following Lake Stevens School District Employees were recognized for creating a positive, caring and productive school environment through exceptional effort, dedication or performance in their areas of responsibility.

May recipients of the APPLE AWARD are: Laurette Buxton, paraeducator at Lake Stevens High School; Shannon Kittle, teacher at Lake Stevens Middle School; Ron Lee, teacher at Lake Stevens Middle School; Jon Dufay, teacher at Lake Stevens High School.

The following Lake Stevens students were placed on the Honor Roll at Western Washington University for Winter Quarter 2012: Allison Michelle Charlot, Emily Teresa Hanby, Jackson. Douglas Lee, Lindsy Marie Noyes, Andres Rodriguez-Perez Noel, Ann Shahbazian, Sarah Elizabeth Straume and Jeremy James Thompson.

Matthew Edward Peters graduated form Western Washington University with a Bachelors Degree in English-Literature Emphasis.

Students from the Lake Stevens area have been named to the Dean’s List at the University of Washington for Winter Quarter. Robert T. Murdock, of Lake Stevens, graduated from Oregon State University in May with a Bachelor of Arts, Liberal Studies.

Kathryn Van Dyke from Lake Stevens was recently listed on the 2012 spring semester dean’s list at the University of Portland.

Air Force Airman Grant C. Stensland graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Stensland is the son of Rebecca Eberharter, Lake Stevens, and Jaysen Stensland of Lynnwood. He is a 2010 graduate of Lake Stevens High School.

Air Force Airman Daniel G. Blanchard graduated from basic military training. Blanchard earned distinction as an honor graduate. He is the son of Roberta Blanchard of Lake Stevens. The airman is a 2005 graduate of Lake Stevens High School.

Navy Seaman Apprentice Tre A. Harris, son of Megan L. and stepson of Daryl J. Wenthur of Lake Stevens was recently promoted to his current rank upon graduation from recruit training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Harris is a 2011 graduate of Lake Stevens High School.

Marion Heffernan of Lake Stevens (Lake Stevens High School, 08) graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Design from Cornish College of the Arts during a spring ceremony held May 13.
