Granite Falls Fire District #17 (GFFD #17) will host a four-day camp ($25) focused on a variety of safety topics and hands-on activities.
Camp dates are scheduled for July 10, 11, 17 and 18 from 9 a.m. to noon. Registration is open to children ages seven to twelve that live in Fire District 17 boundaries. A one day camp ($5) for children ages four to six is scheduled for July 12, 9 a.m. to noon.
GFFD #17 firefighters, public educator and staff from the Boys & Girls Club of Snohomish County will be taking the kids through a series of activities over the four-day camp.
Last year over 20 camp participants had the opportunity to practice escape planning in a smoke trailer, performed fire inspections on a local business, met Snohomish County Arson K-9, Topper, participated in a bike rodeo and also learned basic CPR and first aid as well as other safety-related topics. Similar events are scheduled for this year’s camp.
“We want to give children in our district the opportunity to participate in a fun event with their peers while also learning key safety issues that are applicable to their daily life,” stated Fire Chief Jim Haverfield. “We hope to see new faces at camp this year.”
Space is limited. To register your child for summer camp call 360-691-5553 or email firstname.lastname@example.org by July 7.
