Local church holds city wide food drive

July 24, 2012

The Snohomish Community Church will be holding a city wide neighborhood food drive on Saturday August 4. All of the food collected will go to support the Lake Stevens Food Bank, which is in dire need of donations this time of the year.

The Lake Stevens Food Bank serves an average of 75 households each week, gives out over 25,000 pounds of food items monthly and is staffed by primarily trained volunteers.

Teams of local teenagers and adults will be out and about Friday August 3 distributing flyers and empty grocery bags to as many neighborhoods as possible.

You simply fill the bag with whatever donations you would like to give and leave it on your front doorstep.

Saturday morning the teams will go back out and collect all of the donations and bring them directly to the food bank. If you have items that need to be picked up and are missed by our teams please call 425-334-9181.

There will also be a drop-off time at the food bank from 11:30 a.m.-noon on Saturday.

Some of the most needed items are canned items like fruit, vegetables, soup, chicken and tuna; peanut butter and jelly, boxed dinners and hot and cold cereals. Please no glass containers.

For more information about the food bank and their needs please contact 425-334-3430 or http://www.lakestevensfoodbank.org.
