Lake Stevens plans Back-to-School Resource Fair

The Lake Stevens Family Center is hosting its annual back-to-school resource fair for the children and families in the Lake Stevens School District that are needing help due to financial hardship.

On Saturday, August 25, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Lake Stevens Family Center, families will be able to receive the necessary items for school that they need so the kids will arrive with self esteem on the first day of school.

Services offered will include free backpacks with basic school supplies, and many additional resource booths offering free information.

You will need to show proof of Lake Stevens residency and either bring your children or bring proof of them such as a medical card or other form of identification.

Last year over 500 children of the Lake Stevens community benefited from the back-to-school supply drive conducted by the Family Center.

Now in the tenth year they have noticed that each year the need seems to get larger. This year 26 percent of the families registered for school qualify for free or reduced lunches.

Whether it’s the declining economy or just hard times more kids are in need of help from our community.

Please think of all the things needed to outfit a child properly for school, and consider donating some of these to the Lake Stevens Family Center: backpacks, school supplies and/or a donation of $15 will enable us to purchase a backpack and supplies.

To volunteer to help or to make a donation, please contact the Lake Stevens Family Center at 425-397-7433.
