Granite Falls celebrated National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 7 along with other cities around the country.
The event aims to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
The Granite Falls Fire Department cooked up hot dogs on the bar-b-que, Granite Falls police officers handed out safety information and showed off their fellow four-legged officers.
Kids enjoyed balloons, face painting and plenty of yummy treats and everyone was rocking out to music in the gazebo.
Local businesses including the Fire and Police departments, Red Apple IGA and Alfy's Pizza came together to present National Night Out to the community.
There were about a dozen tables representing several non-profit organizations and groups.
