American Legion starts Riders chapter

Lake Stevens American Legion Post 181 is forming an American Legion Riders chapter.

Military veterans who served honorably anywhere during the Congressionally designated wartime eras and have a motorcycle are eligible to join the Riders.

The first group would be considered charter members of the new Legion Riders chapter in Lake Stevens.

Interested individuals are invited to attend the meeting scheduled for Thursday, October 11, starting at 7 p.m. at the Community Center, 1808 124th Ave. NE, Lake Stevens, 98258.

American Legion Riders chapters are well known for their charitable work, which has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for local children’s hospitals, schools, veterans’ homes, severely wounded military members, and scholarships.

The American Legion Riders are very diverse, and so are the programs that they support.

Legion Riders founded a national movement called “Patriot Guard” (www.patriotguard.org) that honors and protects the sanctity of military funerals and memorial services.
