Highway and construction Updates
*Second round-the-clock closure planned for SR 9/188th intersection*
Just as we wrap up our first closure at SR 9 and 188th near Clearview, we’ll start a second, four-day, around-the-clock closure at the east side of the 188th St. intersection with SR 9 [ http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/Northwest/Snohomish/Construction/#SR9 ]. This time, we’ll need to lower the height of the road by about four feet to match the new elevation of SR 9. To do that, we’ll close the east leg of 188th St (between SR 9 and 76th Ave. SE) from 7 a.m. Monday, Nov. 5, to 5 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9. You can detour around the closure using 83rd Ave. SE and 180th St.
*Rolling slowdowns continue on SR 522 for new girders*
The first girders for the new SR 522 Snohomish River bridge began arriving this week [ http://www.flickr.com/photos/wsdot/8148365724/in/set-72157625677405597 ], and crews have already put the first couple in place. Rolling slowdowns will continue overnight next week [ http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/Northwest/Snohomish/Construction/#SR522 ] – and likely for the next few weeks – as large trucks roll the new girders to our construction area near the river.
*Repeat blackout: Seattle-area cameras down again overnight*
It’s the second of three weekends when we’ll take the Seattle-area traffic cameras [ http://www.wsdot.com/traffic/seattle/default.aspx ] offline to replace and upgrade fiber optic cables [ http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/News/2012/10/26_ITSoutage.htm ]. You can expect the cameras and map to go dark from 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, to noon Saturday, Nov. 3.
