Snohomish PUD Assists with Superstorm Sandy Response

November 2, 2012

Everett, WA -- Snohomish County Public Utility District has sent a team of 11 field workers to assist with relief efforts in New Jersey. The PUD crew members boarded a plane Thursday, Nov. 1, in Portland, along with crews from Clark County PUD, Eugene Water & Electric Board and other western utilities. As many as 2.4 million customers in New Jersey were initially without power in the wake of Superstorm Sandy.

The PUD crew was expected to be positioned in Asbury Park, New Jersey. They will work up to 16 hour shifts for up to two weeks.

"We're proud that we can lend a helping hand to our fellow Americans during this difficult time," said PUD General Manager Steve Klein. "Just as we work as a utility to make a positive difference in our own customers' lives, our skilled crews bring that same dedication to serving the people impacted by this disaster."

The PUD will work on restoration efforts using equipment provided by Jersey Central Power & Light, the utility which requested assistance.
