G.F. student named Commended Student in National Merit Program
Granite Falls High School senior Pooja Sethi has been named as a Commended Student in the 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program. Sethi placed in the top five percent of more than 1.5 million students in the entire country based on scores from the Preliminary SAT test.
She maintains a 4.0 GPA with a strong interest in math and science.
She was a two-year member of the Granite Falls High School Eco-car ShopGirls team, a team that designed and built and is helping the team again this year as her schedule allows.
She is also a member of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) placing fourth in the nation at the 2011 FBLA competition and a member of the Knowledge Bowl and cross country teams.
High School principal Michele Wadeikis stated, “Pooja is a great example to represent our school. She is an outstanding academic student and highly involved in all aspects of the High School life including athletics. We are very proud of Pooja and the strong role model she is for our younger students.”
Sethi will be mailing college applications to MIT, Stanford, the University of Washington, and the University of California, Berkeley, with plans to major in computer engineering.
