LSF firefighters complete Officer Development Academy

February 19, 2013

Lake Stevens Fire members Captain Ryan Lowe, Captain Ron Rasmussen and Acting Captain/Firefighter Augie Cardona recently completed the King County Fire Training Officers Association (KCFTOA) Officer Development Academy (ODA).

The KCFTOA Officer Development Academy was first offered in 1996. The purpose of the academy is to develop firefighters within the region to fulfill the roles of Company Officer for today, as well as for the future. ODA is offered annually through the KCFTOA and strives to provide the best possible instruction by using both nationally renowned and regional instructors known for providing dynamic training.

The Officer Development Academy is approximately 260 hours of class time which does not include study and class preparation time. The Academy has been accredited by the Washington State Fire Protection Policy Board for providing quality training that meets or exceeds the requirements for NFPA 1021 Fire Officer I & II and NFPA 1041 Fire Service Instructor I.

Chief Dave Lingenfelter commented, “My congratulations to these individuals for their hard work and desire for personal development. This training will be a great asset to Lake Stevens Fire as these officers continue to develop and grow as leaders in our community.”
