February 26, 2013

The police department responded to 600 incidents in the week of February 10, 2013 through February 16, 2013. The following is a brief summary of some of the more notable contacts:

DUI/DWLS/Warrant Service, 2/10/2013

200 Block of N. Machias.

A 25-year-old male was stopped for speeding. A routine check of his record showed he was driving without a license (DWLS) and that he had a felony warrant for his arrest. While exiting the vehicle, the driver exhibited signs of intoxication. The officer took him to the police department to be processed for Driving Under the Influence (DUI). The 25-year-old male was later booked into jail on his warrant and informed that a court date for Driving While License Suspended (DWLS) and DUI would be mailed to him.

Theft-Dine and Dash, 2/11/2013

9300 block N. Davies Rd.

Two adult males ate and drank in a local restaurant and were given a bill for approximately $40. One of the males provided a credit card as payment. The card was rejected; when alternate payment was requested, the males claimed they would retrieve cash from their vehicle. They left the debit card behind and fled the area; however the server was able to provide the license plate number. Officers went to the address of the registered owner and made contact with one of the male suspects. He claimed his friend told him the bill had been paid while he was in the restroom. He agreed to make payment arrangements with the business owner.

Child Abandonment, 2/13/2013

1000 Block of 122nd Ave. NE

At the request of a Snohomish County Deputy, an Officer was dispatched to a local address in attempt to contact the husband of a female who ran out of gas near Darrington. When the officer got to the location, the door was answered by two young juveniles. They confirmed the man the Officer was looking for was their father but that he lives in Seattle. They reside with their mother, who had left a few hours earlier and did not know when she would return. The Deputy had come across the 43-year-old mother who had run out of gas near Darrington. She was acting strange and stated she was leaving town to begin a new life. The children, too young to be left without supervision, were turned over to a grandparent. The mother was booked into Marysville Jail for Abandoning Dependent Person 3rd degree.

Robbery 2, 2/16/2013

700 Block of SR 9 N.E.

Officers were dispatched to a shoplift call which turned into an attempted robbery. Upon arrival it was learned that two male subjects entered the store and one of the suspects put a bottle of alcohol down his pants. Security contacted them upon exiting. The suspect, who refused to return to the store, began handing over the bottle of stolen alcohol, and then punched security in the throat. Both suspects ran to an awaiting vehicle. The alcohol was recovered but no leads on the suspects at this time.
