Lake Stevens Fire has been awarded a Vision 20/20 Grant through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant program. This grant provides the resources to install 200 smoke alarms, 20 hearing-impaired smoke alarms, and perform home safety surveys for families located within the Lake Stevens response area.

Through this grant Lake Stevens Fire is able to provide educational Home Safety Surveys, which consist of testing/installing smoke alarms, identifying potential fire hazards, and helping residents create an escape plan to be used in case they were in an emergency situation.

The installation and surveys are free to Lake Stevens’ residents and are conducted by a firefighter crew from Lake Stevens Fire.

You may benefit from this service if your smoke alarms are 10 years old and need replacing, you don’t have smoke alarms in each sleeping area or on each level of your home, you don’t have photoelectric smoke alarms, you need assistance looking for fire hazard risks in your home or you need a fire escape plan.

Public Educator Jennye Cooper states, “Smoke alarms are an important part of a fire escape plan. When there is a fire, smoke spreads quickly and typically rises. Working smoke alarms give you an early warning so you can get out quickly and safely.”

If you are interested in having Lake Stevens Fire conduct an informational Home Safety Survey with smoke alarm installation, please call 425-334-3034 to set up an appointment.
