L.S. Police Department makes arrest in local teriyaki restaurant robbery, home invasion

February 26, 2013

The Lake Stevens Police Department has arrested several suspects in two different robberies this past month including a local restaurant and a home invasion robbery. They are still in search of the suspect in a third robbery at Lake Stevens Quizno’s last week.

On Saturday, Feb. 9 at approximately 7:50 p.m. Yumiko Teriyaki, near Sports Authority in Lake Stevens Center, was robbed for an undisclosed amount of money.

The suspect from the Yumiko Teriyaki robbery was described as a black male approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall with a thin build and having slight facial hair.

The suspect’s clothing was described as a dark colored hooded sweatshirt with a possible skullcap or a bandana on his head, and black jeans with white and black basketball-style shoes.

During the robbery, the suspect displayed a handgun and fired his handgun multiple times. No injuries occurred.

According to police, the victim was able to provide a physical description of the suspect to an Arlington Police Department sketch artist.

A sketch of the suspect’s face was completed. Lake Stevens Police Department’s investigators were able to obtain additional information regarding the identity of the suspect through surveillance video from neighboring businesses and prior contacts with Lake Stevens Police Patrol units.

On Friday, Feb. 15 the suspect in the Yumiko Teriyaki robbery was arrested by the Lake Stevens Police Department, with assistance from the Seattle Police Department. The suspect was booked into the Snohomish County Jail based on probable cause established by the Lake Stevens Police Department.

On Thursday, Feb. 21 just before closing at 8:35 p.m. a man walked into Quizno’s restaurant holding a knife.

The suspect appeared to be alone and fled on foot. He is described as a caucasian male, 6 feet tall, medium build, wearing black over gray jacket, black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, black shoes, and had a gray scarf covering his face.

Police were able to get a picture of the suspect from cameras at Target across the street. The suspect fled on foot going south on 95th Dr. NE.

“We pulled video from Target and investigators are still working that case,” Lake Stevens Interim Police Chief Dan Lorentzen said. “A K-9 unit was there within 10 minutes but they couldn’t locate the suspect.”

That same night at approximately 2 a.m. on the 400 block of Davies Rd, two adult male suspects broke into a motor home where they allegedly attacked and beat two male victims, both adults.

The victims were able to call 911 and police captured the suspects along with a third suspect who was waiting in a car.

“We had some people who knew these people had money from illicit sales and they went in around 2 a.m. and tried to rob them and attacked them,” Lorentzen said. “We took the three suspects into custody, the two individuals who went into the home and one driver.”

All three suspects were interviewed and booked into the Snohomish County Jail for Robbery in the first degree, Burglary in the first degree and Assault in the second degree.

The victims were treated for their injuries at the hospital and later released.
